and if so why do we do it? because someone has to? not me! i won't, not in this life! why would anyone? i have had almost no time to draw, or to write, or to recite, i have been so busy lately working that i have not had anything of which i have created recently to value myself on (if you are a "artist" or "creator" you understand this concept of valuing yourself based on your work, if not 'oh well')! i am dead, i use the word dead on purpose, i am not saying dead as a synonym for tired, or merely as an adjective for the lack of energy, but i am talking about literally being dead, my life force feels drained. i have immersed myself in work, boring shitty work, work that is uninspired and uninspiring and it is literally killing me, i did this thinking that it would facilitate hard work in the future when i finally have time to work on things that are inspired and inspiring, but i have come to realize it does not work like that. what will my inspirations be if i am inspired at all and when will i ever be done with all this busy work? you cannot be an inspired, inspiring life force while you are doing work that is uninspired and uninspiring to yourself, just by imagining that someday you will be. inspiration fades, we change, and if we do not do what we are inspired to then creations go uncreated lives go unchanged. furthermore, you only have so much punch, you only have so much hard work in you, so much drive and push, not to beat the point to death, but simpler, you only live so long. a lot of people say the great thing about inspired work is that it has the ability to rejuvenate you, to replenish, but only if you find the time. we hold on to the hope in life, that we will be able to get to the work that inspires us before our inspirations leave us, that we will have something inspiring to do once we have time for it, or if we are without inspiration that we will find it before we work ourselves to the bone and are drained completely of any hope of finding it. we seek out inspiration so we can be rejuvenated, so we can feel invigorated, and proud of the work we have done, why not follow our inspirations before we have the need to feel rejuvenated and why ever give up, because when you are working on something based on your inspiration it is what it is, and it is all yours! we have been asked by society and its most recent trends to be patient, to take your time, to not rush into your inspirations, to study carefully which inspiration you want to facilitate and grow, 'inspiration will come if you let it,' worse some people have abandoned this idea all together some people believe that working hard is enough regardless of what the work is that there is no need to lead an inspired, inspiring life. i say that is not living, and i tell you with full confidence to rush. i say rush with blind faith and a fistful of fury into your inspirations, because what else should you rush into, rush from one inspiration to the next because you do not always get it right at first, most importantly rush into them because you are inspired to do so, not because i or anyone am telling you to. if you feel so inspired to go to university then go to university, but do not go to university because someone says that is what you are supposed to do, you are supposed to do as you are so inclined and do not let anyone tell you otherwise (as long as you have the free-thinking ability to make your own balanced decisions, this does not extend to children or those unstable, or in-able). do not let anyone convince you to wait around, do not push inspiration to the side, do not hold on to this hope that one day you will have time, do not hold on to the hope that inspiration will find you, because even hope can fade and time most certainly does. it is 'waiting,' that has killed the evolution of expression and art of my generation, it has seeped it's way into activism, eroded the artist, and derailed change, it has stalled peace efforts, and has created a black hole of uncertainty, it is money and war mongering, and elitism, genocide and hate, it is perfect shapes, perfect grammar, and a new type of pursuit of perfection. mostly i would say the pursuit of perfection is a positive pursuit, but we are not pursuing perfection we are just becoming good at saying who is and even better at saying who isn't perfect and since it has been accepted by most, that nobody is perfect, mostly, we have become good at pointing out each others imperfections. all the while waiting for someone to tell us we are or can be or can create something that is perfect, otherwise why bother? do not let anyone tell you you have to wait to create, a piece of art, a phrase, a speech, music, as long as you are guided by inspiration, and passion then waiting is exactly what you cannot do. I have no time to wait. Only to contribute, what you contribute, is up to you. just do not wait to make your contribution, you might wait too long, and who knows it could be just what we all needed!<div><div><div><br /></div><div>as i sit here high, (happy 4/20!) at work (shhhh don't tell the boss) i want to take this opportunity to address myth, propaganda if you will, and if you won't i don't give a shit because i am gonna call it propaganda regardless. myth: a lot of people blame marijuana for there lethargy or apathy, this to me is the ultimate form of self-indulgence and is something to be embarrassed of. ashamed even. it is an excuse like any other a true cop-out. here i am high at work and it is the first time in months i have taken the time to write a post, i have been at work quite a bit, this is the first time i have gone high, this is the first time in months i have sat down and said to myself 'okay what about cheers2crime?' on the day when according to the myth i am supposed to be the most apathetic and lethargic i have gotten the most done and feel the most optimistic i have in a long time. what it is, is just a result of being uninspired or working on work that is uninspired for far too long, not having anything to do, or to create, or something to look forward to. if your sober on your couch, saying to yourself i really don't want to get up to work tomorrow or go to the gym, then your not gonna want to get up to go to work or to go to the gym if your high it is not going to change anything, actually for some it might because work or the gym might be more fun (but so might be sleeping), ultimately the decision is yours, not the plants and you should be embaressed of yourself for giving that much authority to something so simple and good. you have the will power to do what you will, high or not, it is up to you to will it. stop giving weed a bad name (too late for that). i mean, stop blaming weed for you failures, better yet stop placing blame and go get something done yah lazy piece of shit! </div><div><br /></div><div>long story short cheers2crime is back and were gonna start to put original work up of all kinds, stories, shorts, bios, artwork, music, films, reports, dialogues, discussions, resumes, rants, etc. etc.. it is time to get serious. go out and get inspired, give yourself a reason to stay active, up to date and relevant! back to the revolution... </div><div><br /></div><div>roll that shit light that shit smoke it! cheers,<div>-cherub</div></div></div></div>Cherubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00683732824926919825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3609655117287622742.post-91406850034830689402009-02-11T12:03:00.000-08:002009-02-11T12:06:30.025-08:00<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EKv-uGc3tJw&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EKv-uGc3tJw&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><div><br /></div><div>this is fucking great, kaws is a legend!</div>Cherubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00683732824926919825noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3609655117287622742.post-54952254761082360892009-02-02T06:50:00.001-08:002009-02-02T06:54:25.770-08:00Inverse on Sound Session...<object width="400" height="225"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=3024903&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=00ADEF&fullscreen=1"><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=3024903&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=00ADEF&fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="225"></embed></object><br /><a href="http://vimeo.com/3024903">Inverse on KUBE 93's Sound Session</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/hyphentv">DJ Hyphen</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com/">Vimeo</a>.<div><br /></div><div>(haven't been able to post much music from these guys if you listen to the interview they have a dope <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">ep</span> out called <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">"so true."</span> I just sent 'em an email to try and get some more music and such from them so hopefully it will work out, but i thought i should post something <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">inverse</span> in the mean time... real rap).</div>Cherubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00683732824926919825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3609655117287622742.post-21007333431918227232009-01-30T07:14:00.000-08:002009-01-30T07:16:38.226-08:0001/30/09 BTN! I do not think I could do justice to the chills I get, to the feeling young, ethnic, impoverished America gets when they think about the great changes this great man can make, and our role in facilitating, promoting, and helping to make those changes occur. I do not think I could do justice to how he has rejuvenated my ambition and I hope the ambition of young America to receive higher educations. I do not think I could do justice to the faith he has instilled across the globe in the ability for the American People to make the right decision, and to have the faith that we will once again be a country helping those in need, instead of hurting them. I could not do justice to the feeling Africans across the globe, the feeling people of ethnicity across the globe must be feeling that there voices will be heard loud and clear! So, I won't try... Here I write a long entry about how we should all keep level heads and try to use new methods, to put an end to violence that has become old and routine. The details have not been released, but I am outraged, what allowed me to keep a level head when I heard about Oscar Grant, was the fact that it was not something that happened in a back alley, it was in public, open for everyone to see I have hopes, because that is the case that Officer Mehrsle will be brought to justice (hopes that are thinning as each day passes and he is not charged), but at least there could be no trickery about what happened (even though this "I thought my strap was a stun gun," is a clever attempt). The officers involved and particularly Officer Mehrsle cannot claim his innocence (whether or not they are able to use there positions as officers to evade punishment), the question of whether or not they were innocent in there actions, can never be answered by anything but a NO! Oscar Grant, was murdered without justification, police brutality exists, racism exists, profiling exists, and fear exists between the police and young America, no one can refute those as truths after the tragic events of January 1st. So what I mean to say, is I could see how the young, ethnic, and impoverished of America could use it as a means of showing the rest of the world exactly what they are faced with. The protections they don't receive and liberties they do not have. It could be used as a means to change. Power is placed in the hands of the communities, and they are given voices to present the problems and fear they live with everyday and some solutions as to how to move forward and save innocent lives. You are forced to face the fact that you are a contributor to the problem. However, now are focus has been cleverly switched (I do not want to go completely conspiracy theory on all of you but I do think it may very well be a part of the plan). Deflect our attentions for long enough, change the face of the Oscar Grant tragedy from a completely innocent man to a man whom might not be innocent, from an unarmed man, to an armed man (granted he was licensed), from someone whom it is on tape that he was being cooperative, to someone whom can be made to seem the exact opposite (though I am going to give myself to the conspiracy and say he was not). You now have a situation with variable you can control. Picture this, you have a completely innocent man murdered in public by a Police Official. You have all of this terrible publicity on your hands and all of these people asking questions, questions that because of to the extent of his innocence and the way in which the event unfolded you have to answer. You have to look internally because no one else is to blame, you can say that it is the result of a much larger problem, but you are forced to at the very least admit that it is a problem that is contributed to by both sides. You have forfeited the moral high ground, and now you have to, one; make it clear that you are making changes to policies and to personnel (which can be time consuming and expensive), or two; get it back, or at least get some of it back, option three is; differ attention for long enough to make everyone forget, because we forget a lot. Now, it is your job to find a way to flip the script, you are faced with how to make this big tip of the scale in poor America's favor not so big, and you are told to use options two and three. How do you regain the moral high ground or <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">some</span> of it, and how do you divert America's attention away from such a tragic and publicized event? Well what you do, is you find a man, preferably someone ethnic, and preferably poor, if he can't be ethnic then he has to be poor and if he can't be poor then he has to be ethnic, whom you know will be carrying a weapon because he is licensed to do (licenses you have access to), you isolate him from his friends, and make sure there is no chance of anyone seeing you, best case when he is returning from a party so he is preferably intoxicated and not at his best, you get a group of officers looking to move up in the ranks whom will swear it happened exactly like you tell them to say it happened, and you tell them to wait in the dark, fire a few shots so he is sure to shoot back so you have rounds coming in the opposite direction, (maybe he doesn't shoot back but that's not so important, because after all he shot first and we can make the ballistics tell our story), the only thing that is important is that he turns around for long enough to put a few shots into his front-side, then a few in his back as per protocol to make it look by the books. You might throw some drugs on his person or maybe you decide thats too cliche but anything after the above steps to slander the dead male is a bonus, in reverse anything that can be done to defend his character is best left kept secret, let people find out on there own. What happens next? You make sure that every officer who gets interviewed states loud and clear that what those men did is exactly what they were trained to do, and then you let the media and lemming America do the rest. Do not do the rest America! Do not be fooled, do not let the addition of yet another tragic event stop you from demanding that changes be made within the task force to their personnel and to policy. Make sure they are held accountable for the corrupt ways in which they operate and attempt to at first do so using legal means, because that is the only way that change will really occur. I know in my last blog on the topic I said it was a war we cannot win and therefore should not fight because it is only at our expense or at the expense of the innocent. While I think it is important to promote and preach change through legal channels, our hand is forced. If you allow this recent tragedy of the innocent slaying of Adolph "Chris" Grimes to distract you from the problems you have to face internally. Well, then I am prepared to put a target on my back, a message to any police officer whom abuses his authority at the expense of the innocent, to tell you that I am not innocent, and that I will not be cooperative, to say that I will fight, and I will fight until my last breath or until yours, because you are as guilty as I am, and you bleed just like me.<div>Cheers<br /></div><div>-Cherub </div>Cherubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00683732824926919825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3609655117287622742.post-52166934895697303942009-01-12T07:03:00.000-08:002009-01-12T07:20:25.793-08:0001/12/09 BTN #21<a href="http://www.zshare.net/audio/539332761f1f9a8c/">Mos Def - Brooklyn Go Hard (rmx) Live</a><br /><div>(by far my favorite rmx of this joint so far, the shouts to albany help, but the kicker is that <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">MOSDEF</span> IS TOP 5 DEAD OR ALIVE NO QUESTIONS ASKED!).</div><div><br /></div>Cherubhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00683732824926919825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3609655117287622742.post-24277758516083866622009-01-12T06:16:00.000-08:002009-01-12T07:20:38.912-08:00<a href="http://sharebee.com/349538f6">Maino - Letter To Pac</a><div>(<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">maino</span> goes in on <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">jada's</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">"letter to big,"</span> and whether or not it would have fit better if someone from the west sent this letter, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">maino</span> goes the fuck in!).</div><div><a href="http://sharebee.com/7f39b7f7">Lil Wayne - Yes (Feat. I cannot imagine the pain the Grant family is going through, my heartfelt wishes are extended to them in these hard times. The sad truth? Violence, brutality, racism and most of all fear is alive and well in the United States. Fear is the propeller of violence and where do we most often find fear? We find it in the face of the unknown, most significantly when we are face to face with a situation we have not yet experienced. The strength in character, the resilience and intelligence of the Human Race is how we react in the face of such circumstance. In that interest, not to say that police brutality is something we have not seen before (it is most certainly not), but perhaps if we address the issue the same way it comes to pass then we may be able to understand and eliminate such circumstance, if we do not we just perpetuate the fear that has been a result of such a tragedy and thus perpetuate such violence. I am afraid... </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">There has been a war waged between the police of America and the youth, the minorities, and the poverty stricken members of our society it is very fucked up! I speak to all of you out there whom have taken part in this personification of the American Officer and have thus waged war, labeled them as the enemy and I tell you it is a war we cannot win, and it is one we have been fooled to fight! They have every upper hand, if you do not see that is the case after the tragic events of January 1st, then allow me to make it clear for you. Oscar Grant, may he rest in peace, was a butcher's apprentice, he was in public, surrounded by on lookers, he was being perfectly cooperative, perfectly innocent, PEOPLE WERE FILMING, and he was murdered in cold blood. No charges have been brought against Officer Mehserle to date (that is not to say there will not be any he will most certainly be tried but even in the face of such obvious circumstance it takes over a week to try a man whom is FILMED shooting an innocent citizen, and why has it taken so long? Oh!? Because he is a police officer... Wait a minute, somethings not right?). The playing field is not level, and the solution, is not to level the playing field, it is not to arm yourselves with bigger guns, stronger vests, it is not to riot, to say "fuck the police," however hard they deserve to be fucked, we have tried that tact, IT IS A WAR WE CANNOT WIN! The Police are here to stay and making them frightened, sending them the message that we do not care if we cannot win, we will continue to fight and making it clear we will do so violently has backed them into a corner, a corner we know when backed into the reaction to expect. Because, when bitches are backed into corners they act like bitches, and tragically, when those same bitches act out, when they try to fight there way out, we know bitches don't come for those of us whom they should come for, we know bitches act like bitches and innocent lives are often a result. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">For those of you whom continue to contribute to violence in the drug trade, speak on or preach that violence, you have a sad truth to face. That truth is, some of Oscar Grant's blood is on your hands. You are the perpetuators of this on going war between young America, especially young impoverished America and the Police, a group of men and women whom we PAY to protect us, you have succeeded in convincing the youth and impoverished that the Police are the enemy, however, the Police are not the enemy they may be your enemy, and they may be mine, but they are not America's enemy on the contrary in fact, you are America's enemy, the one whom most often claims innocent lives, you the violent drug trafficker you are whom to be really afraid of and you have made that clear, you are stopping growth and expansion in the ghettos of America, by perpetuating such violence, and by making people feel unsafe and for making it unsafe. The sooner the innocent take there lives back, take the streets back from the dealers and from the police, the sooner a message can be sent to the Police of America that we the innocent do exist, and we want your protection, the sooner we can see development, and I mean development in all echelons but especially in poor America, the sooner men and women can be made to feel safe, or at the least to feel like they do not have to be afraid of both sides of this drug war and feel as though they have some say, the sooner we will begin to see positive growth in especially the ghettos of the United States. It is a very clever trick the drug nation has played in a ploy to make there lives easier, to make the money come in faster, and to minimize the threat of police, I say it is time to take some responsibility, and stop enabling such tragic events, it is time to take such hard times and use them to look introspectively at our actions and the results of our actions and ask ourselves do we really want to be responsible for the decline of our neighborhoods, for the uneasiness and unsafe sentiments of our neighbors, do we want to be responsible for innocent lives? maybe the answer is yes? If so, then how can you ask your neighbors to be supportive of your decision? And neighbors, how can you honestly think that supporting that decision is what is best? Don't be dumb, Cheers 2 Crime does not support innocent people being incorporated into violence that is anything but innocent. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">Rest in peace Oscar Grant, may the judicial system bring justice to your murderer (and let it be known if the judicial system fails, we will not). I am deciding to take a different route this victim around, I am taking the blame, maybe if we all took some of it, internalized it, and do something about it in a positive manner in which brings back some sense of security to the neighborhoods we live in, Oscar Grant's death may not be in vain. My sincerest apologies go out to the Grant family, I will try my best to make a positive change, I hope we all will. </span></div></div></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 22px; font-size:48px;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 22px; ">On Thursday, Mr. Grant’s family and friends spoke publicly to condemn the violence.</span><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" line-height: 22px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">“I</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;"> am begging the citizens not to use violent tactics, not to be angry,”</span></span> said Wanda Johnson, Mr. Grant’s mother. <span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">“You’re hurting people that have nothing to do with the situation.
